Here we are, in March. Are you going to jump into the market this year? If so, are you going to sell or buy? If you are selling, have you gotten your house in order? March is the month for spring cleaning, and now is a good time to start packing things up for moving and painting inside and out, planting new flowers and some trees in the front and backyard of the house.
When was the last time you had a termite inspection? When was the last time you changed the filter in the heater? How old is your water heater? Have you cleaned out the urine traps in the bathroom so the water will drain?
If you are serious about selling, a good place to start is paying for an inspector to come out and go through your home before you put that “For Sale” sign in the front yard. That way you will not have any surprises when the buyer has his inspector come.
Are you buying this year? Have you seen a lender yet? Are your credit scores in the high 700s? Do you have a plan of where you want to live? Do you have backup areas? Do you have enough money for a down payment and closing costs? Did you know that you will need a 20 percent down payment in order to avoid having to pay private mortgage insurance on your mortgage?
